Dr. Aurich is an internationally trained orthopaedic and trauma surgeon from Germany. He studied medicine at the University of Jena (Germany), the Trinity College Dublin (Ireland) and the Yokohama
City University (Japan), and graduated from the University of Jena (Germany) in 1995. Prior to his residency he spent 2 years at the Department of Biochemistry and Orthopaedic Surgery of the
Rush University in Chicago (USA), where he undertook a fellowship in osteoarthritis and cartilage research. He introduced the surgical technique of autologous chondrocyte transplantation for the
treatment of articular cartilage defects into the clinic and is a co-founder of the working group „Clinical Tissue Regeneration“ and a co-founder of the Cartilage Registry („Knorpelregister“) of the
German Society of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery. Dr. Aurich published serveral scientific articles and book chapters in this field. He is appointed as visiting associate Professor of the Department
of Biochemistry at Rush University in Chicago (USA). Dr. Aurich is an expert in the treatment of sports injuries and joint diseases with more than 20 years of clinical experience. He was trained at
the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Trauma Surgery of the University of Jena and at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, a major trauma center in Australia. He specialized in
trauma and reconstructive joint surgery. He was the Calvert Fellow at the Shoulder Unit of the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth in London (UK) and undertook further fellowships in Foot
and Ankle Surgery and Sports Medicine at the Olympic Park Sports Medicine Center in Melbourne (Australia). Dr. Aurich is a member of several national and international professional
organisations, and a member of the editoral board of national and international scientific journals. He is currently appointed as Professor at the Section of Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery of the
